Job Detail: Job Summary
Under general supervision from the Recreation Services Manager, develops, coordinates, implements, schedules and evaluates a variety of programs including day camps; leisure/instructional classes; athletics, special events; wellness/fitness; outdoor programming and special populations.

Essential Functions
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Coordinates, organizes, schedules, budgets, develops and implements recreation activities, athletic programs, special events, enrichment classes for youth and adults, wellness classes, day camps and programming for special populations
2. Work independently and prioritize job tasks to complete them within specified deadlines
3. Evaluates programs for effectiveness and participation levels, assists in the development of new programs and recommends changes; tracks services provided, monitors results and generates operational reports as needed
4. Maintains program accounting and administrative records; tracks expenditures and revenue and orders supplies and equipment in accordance with Authority policies
5. Monitors the day to day operations of recreation programs including handling and resolving complaints and ensuring that programs have required materials and supplies, and formulates and organizes program schedules and rentals
6. Interviews, trains and supervises part time recreation staff on a continuous basis
7. Coordinates facility rental contracts and serve as the liaison between the clients and Authority
8. Enforces Authority policies and procedures for staff, instructors, volunteers and rental groups as well as enforcement of safety and operating procedures
9. Maintain inventories of all necessary equipment and supplies
10. Participate in fund raising and research opportunities for the Authority in grant identification and application
11. Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Knowledge of the principals and practices of recreation and their application to individual and group behavior
2. Knowledge and of the rules of a variety of sports
3. Knowledge of first aid, AED and CPR Skills
4. Excellent skills in dealing with the public to achieve customer satisfaction
5. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
6. Ability to develop and assess community interests in recreation programs
7. Proven ability to work independently and multitask several projects at one time


Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Administration or related field and work experience in recreation or related field or the equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.

Special Requirements
Valid Georgia driver’s license and First Aid and CPR certifications required within six months of hire. Certification as a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional required based on NRPA qualifications.

Work Schedule
Work schedule may vary widely depending upon program needs; including weekends and after normal business hours as necessary or required by programming.

Salary Range
$32,000 - $40,000
